re: digitigrade fix

above commit crashes if og:url is missing from page (treats me right for testing with youtube dot com), below linked commit fixes that regression.

Add missing fallback for LinkPreview og:url

Also, I noticed linkpreviews federate-- only the post's home instance generates a linkpreview and i think that's neat. that's what https://digitigrade.xn--80andq.net/@/nancy@nancy.ignorelist.com/note/1363 was testing, my ability to add a - test to the linkpreview title locally and have it federate.

Mentions melody

melody gave me a really good idea by accident
cause she was talking about item attributes in minecraft and how you could have an item that "ageres you" (makes your player model small) when you hold it
but i want that irl i want to have a plushie that automatically makes me regress when i have it i think that would be so pawesome i will do this via self hypnosis / conditioning

we should see if we can find the popcap games in local stores, been so long since we last played them,,

re: a horrible thought

a quick survey of the fonts on my debian install reveals:

  • Default 'sans serif', 'serif', and 'monospace' fonts: correct!
  • DejaVu: mostly correct, although DejaVu Sans (non fallback) is a fail as it doesn't render any mark above the J.
  • Hack, Liberation: fail, two marks on the J
  • Nimbus: fail, two marks on the J, and it's trying to escape to the left
  • Noto: mostly correct, although Cherokee, CJK, Coptic, Georgian, and Math variants fail by rendering two marks
  • OpenSymbol: fail. renders the acute as if it were its own letter
  • Quicksand, Symbola, URW Bookman and URW Gothic: fail, two marks on the J

all in all, a decent showing? from the default fonts especially.

re: a horrible thought

the only font on my system which seems to render it properly is times new roman:

a screenshot of some text showcasing how íj́ is rendered in times new toman
re: a horrible thought

'cause the j́ (j with an acute) isn't actually a proper char in unicode (it even renders incorrectly on this site lol), and it is very sometimes used!!

like very sometimes lol, you can place acutes on vowels to put emphasis on them or to distuingish them from homographs, but since <ij> is technically a vowel in dutch, you sometimes want to emphasise it, leading to íj́ lol

ukpol

my very scientific and accurate (/s) predictions suggest that green will surpass reform in opinion polling around august this year ^~^
(we can hope)

phone screenshot where i drew on the uk voting intention summary graph from wikipedia, showing dubious extrapolations of the trend lines of green and reform, showing a general decelerating increase for support of green party and a massive decline in support for reform, such that the two lines cross at a point around july-august 2026
