somehow being nerdy about this

i made it on the stove, i.e. by boiling it, which i believe is the most common method worldwide? here in england it's more common to bake it in the oven but it takes way longer that way and im impatient
i used 10:1 milk to rice roughly and arbitrary amounts of sugar and cinnamon and nutmeg. it's really tasty :)

girl i've watched a feature-length movie about a porridge competition (the golden spurtle it's called, if you're curious; at one point there's a person wearing a t-shirt saying 'protect trans kids' hehe), i love me some nerdery around warm simple comfy foods like this

my porridge hot takes, btw:

  • use water instead of milk!!!
  • add a bit of salt, it's nice
  • add raisins (dutch girl moment)
  • porridge with date syrup or maple syrup is good
